Internet Chicken Soup
Permission to be slightly dramatic about how under the weather I’ve been? After spending October with my foot firmly pressed on the accelerator, it seems only fair that November came at me with a knock-out cold. I’m now slowly resurfacing from beneath my duvet—blinking at the world outside and feeling, I’ll admit, a bit overwhelmed by the onslaught of Christmas content already hurtling our way. But I’m on the mend, and hoping to be back to full festive form very soon.
Today, though, France pauses to remember one of the darkest days in its recent history. I never quite know how to speak about November 13th with anything other than sadness; a quiet tug of memory. Whenever autumn feels strangely warm—just like it did on that fateful night in 2015— I always feel a little uneasy.
On the chance you too might be feeling uneasy, down & out with the late autumn blues, or just a little under the weather, I thought I should return to your inbox with a recipe for the ultimate chicken soup for the soul à la Messy Nessy:
Two cups of Armenian Soul Food at a Secret Paris Restaurant.
A splash of cheap Burgundy from the lost wine village of Paris.
A quote from Marcel Proust: “Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”
A generous pour of the peculiar but delightful art of over complicating things.
Mix well: the secret art of marbling and secret paintings hiding inside books.
And finally, sprinkle a delightfully distracting edition of 13 Things I Found on the Internet Today.
Stay curious,
Nessy
