Missing the Magic School Bus
I never really liked school. Is that okay to say? I’m a college drop-out who started this blog 15 years ago as my own little university to learn about things that never came up in class; to make my own curriculum of curious and off-topic topics.
My own petits Parisiens started their first days of school this week and boy, those drop-offs have been a rough ride. As much as my Cabinet here in the Latin Quarter has been a welcoming haven to come back to after summer vacation, I’m definitely feeling those back to school wobbles.
So in case you missed that magic school bus too – a few things to brighten up the back to school commute…
First things first: a party! Here’s your reminder for my rentrée gathering at the boutique this Tuesday September 9th. A mini Paris Writers & Readers Club meet-up, open to all with our very special guest Paula McClain, the NYT best-selling author of everyone’s favourite Paris read, The Paris Wife.

Bring your own well-loved copy to have signed by Ms McLain, or pick up a fresh one from our Cabinet shelf. If you’re in town, hope to see you then from 6-8pm. I’ll bring the wine and the cool kids uniforms. Feel free to come and try one on:
A few other things to ponder and enjoy: l’ecole à Paris, but make it fun!
Get the keys to the city’s most hallowed halls with a janitor’s view of La Sorbonne.
Or how about enrolling at the 1930s Rooftop Aviation School of Galeries Lafayette.
Try the ultimate Parisian pop quiz for your next game night.
And no need to do your Paris homework, because as always, we’ve got the city’s greatest cheat sheet for you right here.
Alright, chin up and let’s seize the day! There are still 18 days of summer left (I’ve put together an events guide if you’re in Paris).
Oh and here’s your trusty 13 Things, plus a few more conversation starters for the lunch line.
Stay curious,
