Parisian Flemme
Now that my summer window is installed at the Cabinet (complete with a swimming pool), I’m feeling a little bit of temptation to skip off to the nearest café terrasse and order a piscine de rosé.
The French actually offer a tempting mantra: En Mai, fais ce qu'il te plaît. (Rough translation: In May, do whatever the heck you want.)
So while I could live out the rest of Spring as a real-life garden gnome, against all my better judgement and despite the dreaded Parisian ‘flemme’ (French colloquial for laziness), I’ve been considering taking up some form of exercise to feel a little more energised and toned in time for the swimsuit season.
I wonder if culture laps around the Louvre count? Ahead of our upcoming Paris Writers and Readers Club with Elaine Sciolino for her new book Adventures in the Louvre, I spent an entire day wandering the world’s most famous museum in preparation.

Don’t forget to tune in remotely for Elaine’s salon on May 28th at 6.30pm CET even if you’re not in Paris.
But if museum flâneuring doesn’t count as exercise, I’m also considering enrolling at the 1930s dance school on the Left Bank or picking up my sword again at the time capsule fencing club. I also enjoy swimming, but prefer secret pools where I don’t have to share lanes.
Ugh, j’ai la flemme déja.
Maybe just enjoy a lazy Spring Sunday in the sun.
Stay curious,
