The Making of the Paris Writers & Readers Club
A new chapter begins!
I’ve been hopelessly impatient to announce this very special capsule collection created with the iconic French shirtmaker, Figaret. A collaboration born from a chance meeting here at Messy Nessy's Cabinet, your Left Bank bookshop, curiosities cave and home of the "Paris Writers & Readers Club", where once a month, writers and readers have been gathering over candlelight to share ideas, readings, and the simple joy of human connection over a glass of wine.
Since 1968, Figaret has been synonymous with timeless French style and craftsmanship'; silhouettes tailored for life and cut by culture; their pieces designed to become your canvas for life’s stories. This debut capsule collection echoes that heritage, celebrating the world of literature and community.
Each piece carries the “Paris Writers & Readers Club” emblem, a wink to the kindred spirits for whom Paris is always calling. A writer's work jacket for wandering the city, seeking inspiration with a book in your pocket. A cap, inspired by Ernest Hemingway's iconic swordfish hat. An Oxford shirt with the signature Figaret collar; a writer's timeless uniform.
We hope these thoughtfully tailored pieces become become your blank page, inviting life's marks with movement, laughter and late-night readings.
Let me take you behind the scenes and tell you how the collection came about (click to watch the video below)…
Welcome to the Paris Writers & Readers Club, where words inspire, friendships endure, and every crease, every stitch, tells a story.
