Under Construction

Greetings from the back office of Messy Nessy’s Cabinet, where on the other side of the wall the hard hats are on and the sledgehammers are out.

At the start of the year, I shared news of our expansion — and I’m happy to report that after a series of patience-testing setbacks, it’s finally becoming a reality. I never thought the sound of construction work would be music to a writer’s ears, but here I am: writing to you quite gleefully, with hammering echoing from what will soon become the Cabinet’s secret lair. (Our original little shop will remain exactly as it is, only the doorway at the back will serve as a sort of Narnia’s wardrobe).

I’m cautiously optimistic for a September grand reveal, and in the meantime, rest assured the original Cabinet remains open as usual — except for a brief annual closure in August, which we’ll use to carve the rabbit hole between the two spaces.

Sneak peeks to come as the adventure unfolds, but for now: spring is still springing in Paris, and this week we were joined by Adrienne Ryser for our Paris Writers & Readers Club — the California dreamer who took over the oldest flower shop in Paris, and is now the author of her beautiful new book, Fleurs. We talked shop, flowers (with a mini atelier courtesy of Adrienne), and played with writing prompts inspired by the secret Victorian language of flowers.

You can now watch the replay of the evening in the Keyholder vault and if you’d like to reserve an in-person seat for a future salon, don’t forget to plan ahead.

Untli next time, your 13 Things await

Stay curious,

Nessy
